Malasimbo 2015: Two Fabulous Weekends in Puerto Galera Filled With Music, Arts, Lights and Dance

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Not one, but two magical weekends (March 6 - 8 and March 13 - 15) for this year's biggest music and arts festival, plus a lights and dance spectacle on the 2nd weekend to target the younger generation they are calling the millennials. That's six magical days of jaw-dropping sound-tripping and nature-hugging in the mountains of Malasimbo located at Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.

The event is actually a feast for all the senses as there is no other event that allows you to be closer with nature while enjoying the magical sounds and beats of several bands and singers, and gawking in amazement to the many creative art installations displayed in the festival.

On the 5th year of the Malasimbo Festival, the organizers have decided to strongly entice the much younger audience, specifically the teens, by giving the second weekend a different vibe that's perfect for the young filled with passion and spontaneity.

At a press conference held on January 22, 2015 at the Sofitel Hotel in Manila, the organizers of the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival, are ever so excited to share with us what they have planned for the two weekends. This time, we'll have no excuse missing on these magical weekends - there I go again! I keep saying the word magical in every paragraph. Why not? The Malasimbo event is truly a magical experience that everyone should include it in their travel plans for March.

On the photo above is Department of Tourism - Tourism Promotions Board COO Domingo Ramon Enerio III and Puerto Galera Mayor Hubbert Christopher Dolor with Hubert d’Aboville and Miro Grgic, the organizers of the biggest music and arts festival known as the magical Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival, plus the Malasimbo Lights and Dance Festival. Everyone is in full support of the festival ensuring its continued success for many years to come.

The first weekend has, as of this moment, already includes the following artists: Ky-Mani Marley, Fred Wesley, Taylor McFerrin, Tom Thum, French Kiwi Juice, GOCOO + Goro, Brigada, Noli Aurillo, Akasha, Bleu Rascals, Adinkra Lumads Djembe Community, and CRWN.

The second weekend "offers an immersive feast  of state-of-the-art light shows enhanced with contemporary and traditional dance performances, full circled with hip-hop, house and electronic music that is most relevant to the youth of today." Performers will be DJ Kentaro, DJ Mitsu The Beats, Philippine All Stars, Daloy Dance Company, and the Planet Zips Luminaries.

I'm betting more artists will be added as this event has already became a global phenomenon that is much-awaited by a lot of people, both locals and foreign tourists, all wanting to experience the magic that always happens every year.

Wow! It now makes me wonder which weekend I should visit, or better yet, why not just stay at Puerto Galera starting from the first weekend, until the next, giving us the time in between to spend swimming, scuba diving, bar-hopping, nature-trekking, and other fascinating adventures within Puerto Galera. Otherwise, another option is to spend the days in between going to the other destinations in the Philippines as we have several other popular tourist spots that are equally enchanting just like Puerto Galera - member of "The Most beautiful Bays in the World.

What's equally admirable is the aim of the annual event to also maintain its love for the environment with its mangrove tree planting, solar power usage, coastal clean-ups, and now the protection of the Tamaraw, an endangered species found here in the Philippines.

I'm excited for both the music that will fill the air of Malasimbo mountain, the art installations that will beautify the otherwise just barely green grounds, the lights display that will put us in awe, as well as thrilled with the possibilities of dancing all throughout the night.

What is so sure about the event is that we will all be so high in spirits already that we wouldn't need drugs to confuse our senses. Let our all-natural high lift us up into a frenzy as we seemingly float on the clouds because of the splendid music enveloping us all throughout the event.

Kudos to both the Mayor of Puerto Galera and the COO of the Tourism Promotions Board of the Department of Tourism, for being so supportive of the Malasimbo event.

Imagine that, the COO of TPB-DOT doing a selfie! I guess he would also fit in during the second weekend as he seems to be among those that easily embraces the trends of society.

Our dessert was customized to have the logo of the Malasimbo Festival. Yes! The printed design is edible because its printed using edible paper and ink!

It was nice seeing familiar faces from the Tourism Promotions Board of the Department of Tourism, especially Ms. Christel Arguelles, and new acquaintances from their team. I'm hoping to continue working with them more intimately to promote the country as a preferred destination.

The 'Visit the Philippines 2015' tourism campaign of the Department of Tourism takes pride in having included the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival as one of the most anticipated event and top attraction of the country this coming March 2015. Not only does the event bring so many visitors to our country, it also gives the Filipinos some bragging rights to say we have a globally attractive event that also puts eco-cultural preservation an integral part of the occasion.

The festival does indeed weave music, arts, environment, and indigenous culture into one dramatically life-changing event.

I've posted their official press release on this link so you could be able to read more about the event and their advocacy.
