Wazzup Pilipinas!
The recent International Gamefowl Festival 2015 held last January 22 and 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum was a stunning success as the venue was jam-packed with gamefowl or fighting cock enthusiasts, trainers, owners and experts.
We've seen a great number of gamefowl related booths showcasing not only gamefowls but feeds, equipments, cages, accessories, and other related products that are necessary for cockfighting business or leisure. I came in late so I missed the opening ceremonies where they had the traditional ribbon cutting.
They also have a series of talks happening at a quieter portion of the coliseum up at the 2nd floor where several speakers take turns in sharing valuable information to the attendees. A stage in another area of teh coliseum was also setup to provide a venue for entertainment, contests, giveaways and additional information.
Many are aware that cockfighting is a multi-million business. I've seen an actual cockfighting event at the La Loma cockpit during a tour organized by Smokey Tours and I was overwhelmed of the numerous passionate cockfighters present. There's a lot of money involved since there's also too much preparation at stake in caring for and grooming these fighting cocks to stand out as winners.
I've seen TV5's Makata - that guy wearing a traditional Filipino hat and uttering words that rhyme almost everytime he reports. That's his branding and its sort of amusing since he offers a recognizable identity. He was giving away free tarpaulin posters if you can shoot the basketball in the hoop they've set up near the entrance.
However, we've seen not only "cocks" at the festival, we've also seen several "chicks" manning many booths in and around the areas of the Smart Araneta Coliseum. I think they were the ones assigned to do all the stamping of the attendees' piece of brochure where they get to bring home a token as soon as they complete visiting all booths. Some where also giving away official festival t-shirts in exchange of the shirt you're wearing. I should have worn my less favorite shirt so I could have swapped it with one of those International Gamefowl Festival 2015 tees.
Anyway, with due respect to all the awesome cocks at the festival, aside from the title photo above here are just some more of the attractive ladies or "chicks" we've seen at the festival:
Thank you to all mga "ka-sabong" and "sabungero" for attending the 2nd International Gamefowl Festival. See you again for the next IGF!
Which booth do you vote for most outstanding for having the most stunning "cocks" and "chicks" on display?
