Frohes Neues Jahr is German for Happy New Year. Since we are now featuring a German restaurant in our blog today, I will try to insert a few German language in this blog post! Joke! All I know is "Ein frohes Weihnachtsfest und alles gute im neuen Jahr!", which means "We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!" or maybe say "Frohe Feiertage" which is grammatically correct but some would say "Frohes Fest!" instead. Regardless, it's a lot safer if I stick with English in greeting everyone a wonderful new year ahead this 2015.
A friend of mine called me up one night and invited me to join him in dining at one of the German restaurants in the Metro, specifically the one located at EDSA Shangri-La Mall. I was actually in the middle of an event that night but since I was so eager in trying out that restaurant, I accepted his invitation. I quickly asked my correspondent (who was fortunately also there covering the event) if she could cover the even on her own. I believe I was meant to taste the German specialty dishes that night because she immediately agreed without any hesitation.
So your friendly-neighborhood Pambansang Blogger ng Pilipinas quickly took off from the event happening in Makati somewhere at the Magallanes area and hurriedly took the MRT ride to reach the Shaw Boulevard station. Just a short walk from the station and I was already there at the Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant.
The MRT was still the fastest ride in the Metro since I arrived at the restaurant ahead of my friend. It was just a few minutes difference but he came all the way from his Quezon City residence.
There we met with the owner and the head chef who explained to us the dishes they will be serving that night.My friend, being a foodie blogger himself, couldn't wait to get his hands on the dishes as they one-by-one came out from the kitchen. He was not really very fond of taking so many photos of the food while I take a lot of time capturing the many possible good angles so I can choose later which ones I will be using.
What was awe-mazing at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant is the terribly hard to pronounce names of the dishes. I feel so uncomfortable ordering for dishes I couldn't even say right. Not too many Filipinos know how to speak the German language so it was quite educational for me to learn some even with regards to their dishes. Lol.
The fun part is asking the restaurant crew serving our food how to properly pronounce them, and even though I was having difficulty to spell them as well, it was comical having them as a tongue-twister. The solution: Just take photos of the menu so I can capture the correct spelling and practice to speak them later.
A German bar and restaurant is never complete without the beer and other alcoholic drinks so expect several choices of liquor that would go perfectly well with your authentic German dishes.
The restaurant can accommodate a big crowd and quite popular as a hang-out where you can watch the latest sports program especially the live telecasts from international cable TV channels. Many customers frequent the place and keep coming back for more once they experience the dining pleasure. You may chance upon the friendly owner himself and have a drink or two with him.
The bar is wide and comfy enough to seat a good number of people who wants close proximity to the beers and the LED TV.
Being a food blogger, I would always fall for the terrible consequence of having to eat cold food, but since I was there because of an invitation from a friend, and was not really obligated to blog about this restaurant dining experience, I let him quickly indulge on the dishes while I took just a few photos for my personal collection.
This dinner actually happened several months ago but I was only able to blog about it right now because my friend requested that I delay my blog about Brotzeit so he could blog about it first. Since I was just there due to his invitation, I readily obliged. I am so busy with other articles as well. Obviously, it really took me awhile before I could finally release this story.
So after a long time in my external hard drive, I'm finally sharing the dining experience at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant.
Incidentally, I was at the Glorietta Mall in Makati yesterday and saw a sign that says they will be opening another branch there soon this coming January 8, 2014. Well, congratulations! I'm not really sure if its owned by teh same people or just a franchise but still that good news for those fans of the restaurant and its dishes.

Spaetzle is a traditional German dumpling or noodle that's boiled in water or broth then pan fried in butter and served as a side dish. This is a already a complete meal with the noodles as an alternative for our common staple rice.

All beers at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant are 100% natural and made with pure spring water. They are imported from Germany where they are brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. We had a couple of these beers after dinner while chatting with the owner and his friend.

So there you have it. It's just a few of their amazing German dishes available when you visit their place to hang out and socialize with your loved ones, friends, colleagues or business partners. It's a great place to spend the night drinking beer, feasting on their food and being entertained by the latest sports programs on TV. It's almost like every night is like a holiday at this restaurant where you'll find lots of people enjoying their stay.
