Wazzup Pilipinas!
October 18 episode of e-Blog Mo Na Yan! was an eye-opener for most of us in Vigattin Radio of Radyo Inquirer as we welcomed our guests from the Muslim community who was there to talk about their event at one of the hotels in Makati.
Since it is an invite-only gathering due to limited resources of the group, we won't mention anymore when and where except the fact that is it today, Sunday October 19, 2014.
The discussion revealed a lot about our brothers and how many of us are blinded by the false common knowledge that made the word Muslim sound like a rebellious or terrorist group. Many would equate our Muslim brothers as main perpetrators of crimes and wars against Christians, but many of us in the studio begged to question that perception.
I shared that one time when we were toured around Manila and passed by the Muslim community where the Golden Mosque is located as well as the Quiapo church, I told them the noticeable difference between the two religions and their manner of praying to their Gods. I also mentioned how the tourist guide and the vendors there would warn us against snatchers and pickpockets that would usually be committed by non-Muslims.
Apparently, it is wrong to disassociate democracy and human rights with the Muslim community as all of us should not be judged based on our religion or beliefs. Respect towards our brothers and sister should always emanate within us, and we should always not believe some news that seem to sensationalize isolated incidents and branding our Muslim brothers as common trouble-makers.
Den Macaranas and Arne Barcelo, along with Vigattin CEO Elison Barcelo interviewed our guest with so much fervor and passion. I can relate to their sentiments and we all hoped we could have the opportunity to invite together men of different religion to show that there is hope for all of us to get along even with varied religious beliefs.
Our esteemed guest even gave out a book as a gift to our muse of Vigattin Radio who was so thrilled to receive the surprise which she even had it signed for a more memorable token of appreciation.
As usual, we had lunch after the radio show, but this time at somewhere new for the benefit of our Muslim guests.
Amber's Best Restaurant and Ihaw-ihaw was our destination that day as chosen by our guests. We ordered for Pancit Malabon, Beef Steak and Fried Chicken since pork is usually not allowed for our Muslim brothers.
Thank you for another interesting morning with the Vigattin Radio family. Wazzup Pilipinas is so proud to be part of this group.
This article caught my attention. A great way of divulgence that we've been having a good relationship amongst them. Hope this kind of event will continue and spread.
