Havoc in Manila: Pilipinas Aguilas Friendly Match with the Western Australian Raiders
Wazzup Pilipinas!
The Pilipinas Aguilas - National Tackle Football Team of the Philippines presented a test run of its ImPACT (I Am Pilipinas Aguilas Club Training Pool) program last weekend that featured Havoc in Manila, a friendly match with the Western Australian Raiders and a free open football clinic at the Emperador Stadium located in McKinley Hill, Bonifacio Global City (BGC).
The team earlier held a press conference at Skippy’s Bar and Grill at BGC a few days ago to share the program to the members of the media. According to the ATFAP officials who were part of the panel, they are holding the event as part of their commitment to promote the sport and build a program to prepare them and future team members for the 2016 IFAF Asian competition. Anybody, whether Filipino or foreigner, can register and be part of the pool and undergo training to develop their individual fundamentals and skills under the Pilipinas Aguilas.
The Pilipinas Aguilas lost at a previous match last April at Tokyo, Japan mainly because their few months of training does not entirely qualify them as a sufficient force to battle against opponents with several years of advantage. They know that their weakness is the apparent non-existence of significant opportunities for training of existing and potential members. This is why they are very keen in establishing a program that will make the sport easier to access by those who are very much interested to be a part of the team.
During the actual friendly game against the Australians, the final score was 56-7 in favor of the WA Raiders! It may have not been indicative of the actual performance of the Pilipinas Aguilas team as it was a friendly match, but it was an awesome game for everyone! Congratulations to the winning team and all the awardees!
The lineup for the Pilipinas Aguilas are Cocjin, Wewe Alvero, Evan Baylon, Nars Custorio, JR Diangkinay, Kenneth Gallawan, Jay Laborte, Inigo Pulido, Marco Bangit, Zeb Cambronero, JP Suarez, Emile Lioanag, Redd Miguel, Amin Sajjadi, Christian San Juan, BJ Padua, Tim Espinosa, Mark Marigomen, Raul Asuncion, Castri Cabatay, Demi Juanatas, Jeremy Nadado, Marc Patiag, Yosh Sakurai, Eric Ong, Mike Garcia, Christopher San Juan, Dominador Lopez, Oliver Montano, Stephen Reyes, Jon-T Vergara, Nico Sy, Armin Purification, Gel Guibone, DJ Mello, Mike Hoese, Paul Reyes, Eric Soriano, Karl Fernandez, Leand Suguitan, Will Yeh, Joshua Gayta, Ivan Klaric, Nico Faller, Dino Teves, JR Coronica, Ace Espiritu and Marlon Villanueva.
Part of the ImPACT program is to form an all-foreigner team coming from the Pilipinas Aguilas Club members.“This all-foreigner team will be called the “Day-U-Won” or in Filipino language “Dayuhan.” The Day-U-Won team will test these Filipinos in an annual game of real American football, testing what they have learned from their foreign teammates/mentors,” the ATFAP said.
