The Necessary Theatre will stage the Philippine premiere of “Venus in Fur” by David Ives. This is a hilarious, sexy romp of a play that stormed Broadway and won major awards in its wake.

"Thomas Novachek is the writer-director of a new play, an adaptation of a novel which inspired the term Masochism. He is on the telephone lamenting the inadequacies of all the actresses who showed up that day for the auditions when, at the last minute, new actress Vanda Jordan bursts in, the exemplar of every fault he has decried: Needy, Crude, Compliant, Desperate. She convinces him to read through his play, she as Wanda and he as Severin von Kushemski. During this reading, Vanda shows astonishing insights into the novel and her character, and the balance of power shifts as the actress establishes total dominance over the director, exactly as in the novel!"
David Bianco is a native of Ypsilanti, Michigan and is the third of five children. He is of Italian American origin- looks Irish, and before landing a series of opportunities in Manila, was based in NYC for 3 ½ years, where he earned his Equity card touring the US with Theatre Works’ “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” In addition to performing across the USA, David’s theatrical endeavors have led him to Canada, Spain, Italy, Denmark, and Japan respectively, as well as the Philippines where he is currently shooting an international TV show and two international feature films.
In 2014 David was cast as the genius general manager Gregory Morrison, one of the two male leads, in the international TV Series The Boston. The musical drama, based off the Emmy nominated series “The Kitchen Musical” is produced by Singaporean company, The Group Entertainment (TGE), and premiered locally July 2nd, 2014 with an international release date in 2015. Also in 2014 David will also be appearing as Major Peter Lorry Smith in the Historical Feature Film Heneral Luna directed by award winning director Jerrold Tarog. He has also been recently cast in the Sci-Fi thriller Bulan (The Moon People) directed by T M Malones, which will begin shooting at the end of August. Besides playing the drug dealer Das in the international feature film Hello Forever, David has also lent his services to Hope, and Fubar Redux, both which were official selections in the Cannes Film Festival over the past 5 years.
David has a BFA in Musical Theater, and an MFA in acting and has appeared in over 40 theatrical productions. In addition to his film and TV work, he is currently developing leading roles in the musicals Marco Polo: An Untold Love Story, and Singapura. Singapura is produced by 4th Wall, and follows the story of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, as he helped build the new nation and will premier at the historic Capitol Theater in Singapore in 2015. David is very excited to be appearing with his wife Jennifer Blair-Bianco in Venus in Fur at the Cultural Center of the Philippines as well as a Fil-Am adaptation of Spring Awakening with Tanghalang Ateneo in August.
Bianco is also a founding company member of Dangerous Ground Productions in NYC under Romanian Director Doris Mirescu, and has also had the pleasure of working closely with The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Louisville, Kansas City Rep, and the prestigious Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. David has also toured the world as a performance artist with a one man “Charlie Chaplin inspired” show called Silverman, which he has been developing for the last 10 years. David’s parents told him he could do anything when he grew up. His adventures and passion for travel began when he was 18 years old. At age 18 David toured with the performance and community service based group Up With People and performed across the US, and Japan -in Japanese- as the lead character Mark, in the Rock Musical Roads. This passion for travel and performance has become a way of living and he is excited to see where this adventure leads.

Jennifer Blair-Bianco, a Filipino-American actress and a Chicago native, is stage-trained with a BA degree in Theatre from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
Jennifer is best known for playing the leading role of Gretchen Rodriguez (sous chef) in the international hit TV series "The Boston: The Kitchen Musical”, which is currently airing locally on the Lifestyle Network. Jennifer’s professional work includes regional theatre companies in the United States such as the Hope Summer Repertory Theatre Company, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Stages on the Sound, Encore Theatre Company, and Dangerous Ground Productions. In 2007, Jennifer performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC as part of the ACTF (American College Theatre Festival) international selection of the original play "Rose and the Rime," directed by The House Theatre of Chicago's artistic director, Nathan Allen. In 2008, Jennifer helped originate and act in the production of "Crossings,” produced by Stages on the Sound (SOTS). Through the auspices of SOTS, Jennifer traveled to Poznan, Poland in 2009 to perform "Crossings" a second time at the Close Strangers Theatre Festival as well as perform for the third time when “Crossings” was mounted again at The Public Theater for the New York City Fringe Festival. In 2010, Jennifer acted in the Underground Zero Festival production of “3!” – a submission by Dangerous Ground Productions at PS122 in conjunction with The Public Theater.
While living in New York, Jennifer also worked on several short independent films; one of the highlights being that she had the opportunity to work with three-time Oscar winner, Christopher Newman, at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Much of what she had learned about film, Jennifer credits to Mr. Newman and her time spent as a guest actor at SVA.
Since October 2010, Jennifer had been traveling back and forth from the Philippines. She has been reconnecting with her Filipino roots and her family here while working in acting projects on stage, television and in film. On Stage, Jennifer has been seen in Repertory Philippines' production of "Boeing Boeing," playing the TWA flight attendant, Gloria Hawkins, and in the
9 Works Theatricals musical production of "Grease" in the role of Rizzo. She was in the ABS-CBN Global television show, "Filipino Ka, Sabihin Mo!" for the international release on The Filipino Channel. She has been in many commercials such as the Department of Tourism’s "It's more fun in the Philippines -Lovers" (over 4 million views worldwide), and in the Pantene "Whip It" acting as the “Bossy” female executive (over 46 million views worldwide). Jennifer had been in two full-length feature films, both shot in the Philippines, namely: "Hello Forever," directed by Australian director Peter Kirk, with the film making it’s world premiere this past April, winning a Platinum Remi Award at the 47th Annual Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival; and the second film, "Sabine," directed by Ian del Carmen, shot and premiered in Davao mid-2013 and early-2014, respectively.
Later this year, she will be starring in TM Malone’s futuristic Sci-Fi thriller, "Bulan" (The Moon People). She will also be appearing in the Historical Drama about one of the greatest Philippine heroes, General Antonio Luna, in the turn-of-the-century epic feature titled "Heneral Luna," by award-winning Filipino director, Jerrold Tarog.
Jennifer is honored to be joining The Necessary Theatre’s production of “Venus in Fur” and she looks forward to developing this role alongside her husband David Bianco with director Bart Guingona.
