The Simpsons Artist Joins iAcademy as Creative Director
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Who has not heard of The Simpsons? The wacky yellow-skinned family with the weirdest hairdos and flip attitudes that are beyond comprehension. Homer, the father and head of the family, works at a Nuclear power plant with housewife Marge as a partner, and three not so adorable young kids named Lisa, Bart and Maggie, because their looks are so deceiving especially Bart who makes life really crazy most of the time for the entire family, and sometimes, for their entire hometown called Springfield.
iACADEMY, one of the country’s leading schools in computing, business and design, recently named Dane Romley, the character layout artist and designer of The Simpsons Television show and The Simpsons Movie, as their Creative Director.
For five years, Romley created layouts for The Simpsons franchise including rough backgrounds and camera movements along with character and object animation. He also provided character designs for The Springfield Up and Tree House of Horror XVII.
Romley is a graduate of Animation from Woodbury University in Burbank California. He was the digital rough poser and supervisor of Topdraw animation studios and he is most known for his contributions in the award winning cartoon, The Simpsons.
He was born in Burbank, California USA, and his training began with drawing classes at the age of seven. As a child he took up summer courses at the California Institute of the Arts and the Pasadena Art Center of Design. As an animation major at Woodbury University, prominent studios such as Disney, Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Dreamworks surrounded him and urged him to further sharpen and excel on his chosen field.
iACADEMY currently offers three (3) programs under The School of Design – BS Animation, AB Multimedia Arts and Design, and Bachelor of Fashion Design and Technology. “We need to continuously make an effort to improve and engage world class professionals as part of our school to help our students realize their full potential and help them hone their talents,” said Mitch Andaya, iACADEMY’s Vice President for Academics.
iACADEMY is the only school along Ayala Avenue and has recently expanded and opened its new campus in Buendia. Both campuses are strategically located at the heart of Makati’s Central Business District.
iACADEMY is in the midst of the country’s leading businesses, placing its students within reach of industry professionals and partners who teach, train, and eventually hire them.
