Wazzup Pilipinas!
Here’s another update my friends!
Now here is for another round of interviews. I was able to interview next Calvin Metran which will be handling Girlicious and DanceHall.
Again there were bass speakers in my chest because of nervousness but just like with Elgin, Calvin was very cool with the interview and the questions I asked him. It was like chatting up with an old friend as I can say it.
He has been a dancer since he was in Highschool, at 27 years old you can say he is a Pro already just with experience alone – but Calvin actually told me that he wants to learn more so he went to the United States to be fully trained for three months in Florida under world class choreographers to hone more of his passion – dancing.
The video interview is up on YouTube:
Girlicious – not just a girly dance.
When he told me what he will be teaching I was quite curious about them since it’s the first time I heard that there is such a dance style. The only time I remember I heard the name Girlicious is it was about a girl group in the United States back in about 2009.
Girlicious, according to Calvin, is feminine style of dancing with a mix of all dance styles. Since my curiosity got the best of me I asked him how many girl and guys signed up for his class last year, and he actually shared that there were a lot of effeminate gays that joined his class.
Girlicious in my opinion is a type of dance that women would definitely enjoy since it would touch our girly side.
Dance like Beyonce.
This year, The LAB introduces a new dance called Dancehall that will be taught by Calvin. He spent three months in Florida, U.S.A. to train for this dance style.
According to Calvin, Dancehall is a Jamaican/African based dance fusion- think of Rihanna and Beyonce since the music that will be used is more of a percussion based that has a bit of reaggaeton steps.
I’ve seen Calvin’s set during their rehearsals and I could say it’s a fun dance if you like to shake what your mama gave you this is the dance for you. Think of dancing to Pon De Replay much like how Rihanna would do it.
Get to know more about Dancehall and Girlicious by joining Calvin’s class on The LAB 3.
Registrations will be tomorrow 1pm to 6pm at Bluelight studios. I heard they will be giving out free tank tops to the first 50 registrants so make sure to be there!
