Tado Jimenez: The Death of an Artivist

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Did you know that days before comedian Tado Jimenez, whose real name is Arvin Jimenez, unfortunately met his demise along with 14 others at a bus accident at the Bontoc town somewhere at teh Mountain province, he posted online: "North or South....cemetery?" His last post was an Instagram photo of his bus - the bus that took him to his final resting place, heaven.

Many fans, friends and colleagues are now mourning his untimely death. I share my deepest sorrow for Tado was a partner in one of my online campaigns for a certain online marketplace. I've personally communicated with the man so it is with great disappointment that he has to leave us so soon. I have a photo of the two of us together but I can't seem to find it among the bulk of other online photos I have, but will surely post it here as soon as I find it.

Tado was an artist as seen from his works and achievements in his chosen professions as tattoo artist, book author, and comedian among many others. He is also an activist as he is very much involved in political movements and advocacy programs that deals with society, good governance, and love for nature and the environment. In fact he was at the Mountain Province because of a project dealing with such.

We can therefore call him sort of an "artivist" as coined from the two words of artist and activist. He deserves a lot of loving and admiration, and his cause should continue to be fought by others.

Let us not allow his ultimate goals to fall into a ravine just like the bus who took his life. The vehicle fell off the 500-meter deep ravine in Sitio Pagpag, Barangay Tabulin in Bontoc at around 7:20 a.m., according to Police Provincial Director Oliver Enmodias.

I also hope that the LTFRB or DOTC would really do something about erring bus lines that keep on getting themselves plastered in the news because of vehicular accidents that are mostly man-made circumstances. We all know what the problem is but there is simply lack of strict implementation and political will.
