Wazzup Pilipinas!
Imagine the in and out of the One Esplanade building located at the Mall of Asia Complex filled with people at every corner. That's how huge the turn-out of the MATA Expo 2014 event was - a great number of our deaf brothers gathered together for one whole day of fun-filled activities which includes cosplays, fashion shows, VRS tech exhibit, visual arts, food fest, wrestling, and even a hotdog eating contest, where you get to win P 5,000 as prize, was one of the games, plus a few performances that made a lively and pleasant afternoon for everyone.
According to their official website, MATA Expo is an international social-media enterprise expo and more than just a tradeshow. It is a great opportunity for corporations, organizations, and individuals with multicultural aspects "diversity" to promote their services / products to thousands of people. MATA Expo supports expanding the Multicultural Awareness in the public society.
I was informed that the February 8, 2014 event is happening for the second time in the Philippines and its definitely gone bigger than ever. Aside from the different booths that are situated around the venue (inside and outside One Esplanade area), the catwalk-like stage was at the center of the hall where performers, with their special entertainment numbers, impressed the audience gathered around the said stage .
The organizers were definitely busy organizing the different programs lined-up for the expo thus the MATA Expo for this year drew in a lot of people. The organizers are very excited to announce that they broke the new record in Manila, Philippines with 4,000+ guests!
The best part is that there are people from China, Japan, USA, England, and other countries to be part of our amazing event ever! The line was already long even before the 10 am opening.
The heat under the heat of the sun was no match for the hundreds of people who patiently waited in line.
I've seen lots of MATA Expo merchandize for sale which includes shirts and mugs. Definitely worthy to buy one of those as souvenir for the event.
There were plenty of food stalls in and out of the event venue from Burgers, Takoyaki to Chicken Inasal to packed lunch and chips that's a lot more affordable than those you find at the malls.
The hosts of the event also had interpreters broadcasting loud what they were saying for the benefit of those that do not understand sign language.
All-girl group Raindrop made a spectacular dance number, while the fashion show was composed of Forestale, Dorotee Sweetlips, and Josway models with their fanciful dreamy outfits, the Harajuku contest was scheduled early in the afternoon, and immediately followed next by wrestling matches from wrestlers coming from different countries (we also have a Philippine representative), and an iPad Air was raffled off before the MATA Expo 2014 event ended that day.
There was even a chubby female mime doing some outrageous tricks on stage.
Cosplayers were everywhere! Check out these two great finds that I obviously noticed because they are hard to miss with those great costumes.
The cosplayers were mostly teenagers role-playing popular, and cute, anime characters.
The Wazzup Pilipinas booth was manned by a devilish Ghostrider and an alluring angel of our dreams. Hell or heaven? Do I really need to ask? I'm willing to fight off that skull-head just to be with that white-winged lady.
There were also cosplayers wearing heavy gears. It must have weighed a lot but looked very awesome on them.
Models flaunt stunning outfits meticulously designed by their brilliant creator.
The Fashion show boasted fantasy-like designs enough to appeal to each and everyone's taste and imagination.
There were apparently three groups who performed at teh fashion show based on the designs presented.
Visual artists also start out their works from pencil sketch into the final colored masterpieces.
Wrestlers are gutsy individuals who were ready to pose with fans for some photo-ops. The wrestlers consisted of Lapu-Lapu, Silent Warrior, Sean Midnight, Yoshiya Kawamura, Gyu Shin Liger, Teppei Kawamura, and Sawaterio.
Too bad I wasn't able to stay the entire day. My work would not allow me to stay in one location for an entire day unless its a retreat or vacation.
