Bassilyo Launches Debut EP "Klasik" Under MCA Music
Wazzup Pilipinas!
You may be familiar with the song "Lord Patawad" which music video has made it to the top 3 trending videos in YouTube with over 12 million views already. It's one of the songs of Bassilyo released under MCA Music. This song has been very popular that you may hear some kids singing and rapping along with the radio airplay.
Lordivino "Deyb" Ignacio aka Bassilyo, one of the leading rappers in the Philippines and also a part of rap group Crazy as Pinoy, has recently launched his new album "Klasik" at the R Bistro located at the 2nd Floor of Victoria Tower in Timog Avenue, Quezon City. Members of the media were there including representatives from the top three TV networks ABS-CBN, GMA 7 and TV 5.
Bassilyo's debut EP also include tracks like "Walang Kuwentang Kanta", Wow", "Matira Matibay", "Prinsesa Ko", "Ayoko Nang Umawit", "Pamagat", "Baliwan" whic also features artists Crazy Family, Badboys, Crazy Mix, Crispin, Elbiz, Buhawi, G Clown, . Flict G. Kakin and Lirico.
Bassilyo's tarp photo seems to say "This is the "pogi" face that will make kids rap a thousand words!"
We learned from Bassilyo himself that the album's two different types of faces located at the front and back cover represents the two personalities he portrays in his song selections. In the front cover he looks like a matinee idol, and the back photo makes him look like a reggae-ish, punk-pop type of singer.
The back cover also lists down the tracks and other fillers contained in the debut EP Album.
So who wears shades inside the premises of a dark venue? Almost all rap artists seem to like their image represented as "cool" and "shady"!
The presscon went on ahead earlier as planned, they forgot to use the prepared table infront. Everyone just started pointing their recording devices and interviewing Bassilyo.
Backing up the songs of Bassilyo were "Sisa" and "Crispin"? Hehehe
If "Lord Patawad" was a hit, the song "Walang Kwentang Kanta" may soon follow the trend with its very catchy tune and wacky lyrics. It is very rare that I go LSS or Last Song Syndrome over a song and the latter actually became a favorite the first time I heard it.
Even the other media friends who attended the press conference were singing the chorus when we left the venue indicating that with more great marketing and promotional initiatives, Bassilyo may soon enjoy another hot song.
Rap is here to stay as it is a more youthful way to express one's individuality which is probably one of the major reasons why rappers like to include a lot social relevance in their songs. It is a way to express their opinions without being so authoritative, and rebellious.
If you can't directly attack the system, rap an opinionated statement matched with a catchy melody to influence the thoughts of society most especially the youth.
