Wazzup Pilipinas!
The restaurant may have been named after the smallest breed of dog in the world but you'll be surprise how big their dishes are in both serving and taste!
We got to try some of their dishes (especially the Nachos that were served on what looks like an aluminum container bowl used to feed dogs - Wow!) a few weeks ago, and still craving for more opportunities to visit again and try the rest of their menu.
The Chihuahua Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar offers its customers Tex-Mex specialties, accompanied by great choices of drinks and, surprisingly, a dessert, that are truly deserving of multiple visits.
It's a great place to bring your friends and "barkada" for a night of hanging around while enjoying satisfying treats in a cool ambiance.
The menu counter makes it convenient for customers to easily order what they want in a few simple steps. As you can see from the stocks of drink carton boxes, they also have several choices to quench your thirst.
The branch that we visited was the one located in Greenbelt 2 of Makati City. They have another branch (the very first and bigger branch) located at Makati Avenue near the A Venue Mall. What is very noticeable about the restaurant is the assorted photos posted on their walls which are apparently photos of the customers who visited and having a great time in their restaurants.
This was already a plus factor for me since we believe that owners who take time to do such acts really appreciate the value of their customers. It gives more reason for customers to go back and show off to their friends their photo exhibited on the resto walls.
Not only that, try to go visit their restrooms and you'll be amazed as well. It seems the "naughtier" bunch of photos are displayed there so you can take a look at them while you pee. Lol!
I wanted to post some sample of the photos here but I hesitated...hehehe. However, I assure you that they are "decent" enough not to shock you out of your senses. It just seems like some cases of wild drunken nights of debauchery...Nah! just kidding!
Be sure to see them for yourself so you would know what I mean. :)
If you are feeling a bit playful and want to go with the restaurant's theme, you can wear a sombrero and grab a pair of castanets for the photo ops with friends and colleagues.
We started our night with some huge servings of Nachos (Steak Nachos P385 for me and Chicken Nachos P 345 for my companion). The Steak Nachos are topped with generous portion of the USDA Certified beef that made Chihuahua famous! The Chicken Nachos are also topped with generous portions of chicken that's so tender and tasty,
I guess the servings are really ideal for a bigger group but our host mentioned that the servings are big because the foreign customers usually are bigger and usually have larger appetites than Filipinos. But many are already well accustomed to their serving which is actually a great value for your money. For around P300, you'll enjoy a heaping bowl of crunchy delicious Nachos topped with tasty ingredients.
We were informed that they will soon come out with smaller servings to meet the request of those customers that may have either a tighter budget or those that eat lightly and concerned about their diet.
Indeed it was overwhelming to dine on a big bowl of Nachos generously topped with either beef or chicken, and other ingredients that both of us were not able to finish the entire dish.
Agua Fresca (Spanish for fresh water) is a light, non-alcoholic drink served by street vendors, in bodegas, and at eateries throughout Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, as well as Mexican cafés and taquerias around the U.S.
Though all three flavors of the Agua Frescas were splendid, my companion and I both agreed that we enjoyed the Melon flavor better than the other two choices.
We still had room to taste their Burrito. We ate half of the yummy two-bean burrito. But since we were both almost full, we sort of cheated and ate only the insides of the burrito. The sauce that came with it really brought out the taste even better.
But no matter how full we are, we couldn't say no to the dessert.
The dessert, newly-offered and still not yet in the menu during that time (and maybe until now) looks like a quesadilla but with Nutella, bananas and peanut butter plus topped with vanilla ice cream, cinnamon, almonds and "cajeta" - a Mexican caramel similar to dulce de leche. This creation is called the Banana Nutella Quesadilla (small P 195 large 345).
We can't wait to try out the other dishes soon. For the meantime check out updates form Chihuahua Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar from their Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/chihuahuamexicangrill
