Via Antonella : The Newest Resto Along Maginhawa Street

Wazzup Pilipinas!

So what's new located at the corner of Maginhawa and Makadios?

Its this new restaurant that sounds like Italian but really offers a fusion of dishes inspired by the world. Well, yeah, they may serve a lot of meals with international hints but they have definitely learned how to target the Filipino taste buds.

With many mouth-watering offerings concocted by their chef Juancho, the resto, named after the combined named of two persons, will please and satisfy your meticulous appreciation of a great dining experience.

It was probably originally called Cafe Antonella based form their Facebook page, but we don't know the reason for the slight change of name.

Regardless of the name of the restaurant, we all know that people will patronize you not because of how cool your name is but on how great your food are.

This is why restaurant owners always prioritize choosing the right chef for the job. The master chef is the key element to make your restaurant successful. The chef decides on how dishes will be prepared and served.

Aside from the taste, the presentation of dishes, taking into consideration the total look and feel brought about by the color, aroma, design and creativity from the choice of plates to the layout of proportions and ingredients - are vital to how the appetite will be challenged or played on.

The place is quite simple in design yet spacious and cozy enough. What was noticed by my friends was that it has power outlets where customers can plug in their laptops and gadgets so they can work longer hours while hanging out at teh restaurant. Via Antonella provides wifi Internet access to its customers to be able to connect online and check emails or social media networks while enjoying their meals.

Aside form the many coffee, sodas and floats variations, the restaurant also serves a few beers, wines and mocktails.

The whole stretch of Maginhawa street is widely known for its great restaurants including hole in the walls that started out small but are now big and popular.

Via Antonella will be a fine addition to the collection of great food choices here at Quezon City.

If you look up, you'll probably notice the many bubble-like bulbs that hang, and the cardboard egg trays that decorates the ceiling.

They said one of the owners has another business related to the light-bulb industry so that is why they promote light bulbs as decorative pieces. I just don't know why the use of cardboard egg trays.

There's a few windows  positioned on their walls not as functional but only as decorations to give a look and feel of class and sophistication in ambiance.

The huge mug of Rootbeer Espresso Float will quickly refresh you. The rootbeer is said to be uniquely made at the resto topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.

The Cream of Shiitake and Leeks was a great way to start the day right. It is fresh shiitake mushrooms pureed and sauteed with butter, garlic and leeks and was shimmered in chicken stock and cream. I is usually served with garlic bread and garnished with fried shredded leeks.

The Cheesy Sisig Lumpia is crispy fried lumpia stuffed with mozzarella cheese, green chili and sisig. Its amazing already even without the soy sauce, calamansi and sili. This is a must have starter that you'll surely enjoy.

The Antonella Burger will threaten most respectable burger joints with its Wagyu beef patty. House dressing, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion, pickles and American cheese all inside a sesame seed bun with fries at the sides.

The Crispy Adobo Wings and Chips is fried chicken wings coated with sweet and spicy adobo glaze and served with home-ade potato wedges.

This is a starter that will already make you full and satisfied like its one of the main entree.

Waffle Ala King
is Via Antonella's version of Chicken Ala King served on a bed of freshly-baked waffle instead of bread bowl. Grilled Chicken fillet topped with bechamel sauce and mixed aromatics sauteed in butter.

This is one of their All-Day Breakfast meals that is a great treat anytime of the day.

The Baby Back Ribs of Via Antonella is really something to die for. Though its not their signature dish, you'll appreciate the fall off the bone tender American porkloin ribs that was grilled and basted with their very own mesquite smoked barbecue sauce. It comes with grilled corn on the cob, buttered vegetables and side salad.

You cannot resist the spectacular taste of their Pininyahang Roasted Chicken. It's half free-range chicken that was marinated in pineapple juice and mixed seasonings. The chicken was carefully tenderized and roasted to provide a well-cooked and flavorful experience. The dish comes with baked potato wedges, and grilled pineapple, bell pepper and onions.

The Lamb Kaldereta is slowly braised lamb with a special sauce recipe sauteed altogether in soffrito and served with fried potato wedges. If you want the most flavorful dish next to the Pininyahang Grilled Chicken, I would highly recommend this with a cup of rice.

The Hole in the Bone is another favorite. This is Via Antonella's take of the great Italian dish called Osso Buco. It's beef shank slowly braised in beef stock, roasted tomato and mixed aromatics. It is served smothered with its own braising liquid with mashed kamote and side salad.

The Chili Tuyo Spaghetti will tempt you to try making this dish on your own. I've tried making sardine spaghetti at home, but this is my first time to taste one that has "tuyo" as the replacement of the typical hotdog or pork grind contained spaghetti.

To end the day right was a hearty serving of waffles topped with caramel and chocolate syrups, vanilla ice cream and banana-mango or peach-mango slices. The Waffle ala Mode is their sweet treat to all their customers wanting of a great dessert.

The staff makes their wacky pose infront of our cameras.

Thanks, Chef Juancho for the gastronomical delights you and your staff served us during our visit at Via Antonella, and also for the video invite we have uploaded in YouTube.

Also thanks to Jacquie for the warm welcome and great customer service, plus the blooper videos up to take four before we finally got an acceptable video invite ...   hehehe

Kudos to the rest of the crew for a wonderful time at Via Antonella.

My friends and I were all filled to the brim, I swear we will explode if we ate more of the delicious dishes served to us. Many of us just decided to bring home the left-overs for it will be a waste to spoil such great food.

I was scheduled to go to another event so I was not able to bring home with me some goodies but I promise to be back at the restaurant whenever I'm near the area. There were still a lot more dishes to try out and they all look promising.
