The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Special Blocked Screening
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Getting five movie tickets to the Special Blocked Screening of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" was not the only thing spectacular. It was also having your blog logo printed prominently on the movie ticket itself. Being an online media partner of the event truly has its perks and privileges, and Wazzup Pilipinas, along with its team of bloggers, are enjoying every single one of them.
Though the three hour lengthy movie was reward enough especially for us fans of the The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) movie franchise, the mention of our blog name among the moviegoers was also an awesome recognition that make us truly proud to be partly responsible in promoting the event.
Our readers who learned about the special blocked screening through our blogs are obviously glad they were among the first to watch such a grand blockbuster.
The five tickets allowed us to bring the entire family with us so my wife and three kids were there with me to experience an adventure along with some of our favorite The Lord of the Rings characters, Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, plus the ever charming and skillful Legolas.
Reclaiming Erebor, the dwarves homeland, from Smaug the dragon was pretty difficult and quite a cliffhanger. We were left wondering at the very end what will eventually happen. A destruction of many innocent lives or a retribution by a descendant against the horrible and arrogant fire-breathing dragon?
The Special Blocked Screening of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was brought to us by The Great Events Plus Phlippines Inc., and was held at the Shang CinePlex of EDSA Shangri-La Plaza last December 7, 2013 at 7 pm.
The movie was a three-hour long story that revolves around The Lord of the Rings movie franchise and has Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Martin Freeman (Bilbo), Richard Armitage (Thorin) as the lead stars. Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and Evangelline Lilly (Tauriel) also shines out as supporting casts brought about by their exemplary fighting skills against the Orcs who were chasing the dwarves through the treacherous landscapes towards Erebor.
I was with my wife and my three kids ages 15, 13 and 10. The movie as a PG-13 or Parental Guidance for 13 years old and below but my kids were mature enough to understand the difference between fantasy and reality.
The boys went through the movie from start to finish but my ladies went to sleep after the second hour. I guess it was really a guy's movie. All that intense action, a few drama, and the awesome special effects did not really registered as awesome enough to keep the attention of the ladies.
It was the right decision to buy more than a bucket of popcorn and drinks for everyone for the movie was really too great to miss even a minute of a scene. I swear I tried my best to hold the pee, but it was already more than half-way of the movie. So sorry but the mind is strong but the body was weak.
Overall, the movie was all thumbs up for me. The fight scenes were so fast-paced but visible enough to comprehend what was going on. A lot of new characters were introduced but the movie was kind enough to give them plenty of time for the people to appreciate their role in the story. The dwarfs deserve praises somewhere in the middle of the people when their characters finally shined and individually identified.
Almost everyone I know loves the Lord of the Ring Trilogy, and the Hobbit franchise may be able to catch up to an equal number of fans if it will follow to this recent one.
The cliffhanger ending was perfect, just like something out of the old serials.
