Wazzup Pilipinas!
When you get hungry One pacific Place Serviced Residences has a restaurant on the first floor called The Strand Cafe to serve your meals all throughout the day. You can also order for room service so they can send your meals in your room. They have great iced tea though the glass was a bit small for me. They also have brewed coffee but my wife preferred water instead.
We had a pasta diner buffet where we got to try three types of pasta noodles, plus several choices of specialty sauces along with some garlic breads and buns.
Breakfast was heavier as they offered soup and congee, breads and jams, cheeses and hams, salads, fried and steamed rice, tocino, longanissa, tuna, beef, fruits, cereals, and omelltee that you can have a restaurant staff cook with your choice of ingredients. They have orange and mango juices but were not the freshly squeezed kind. They were probably either the powder or liquid form.
First time for us to try out a pasta dinner. Rice is the staple food of Filipinos so it will be something new for us.
Since we are not used to a pasta dinner, we were not able to dine much on the buffet. But the food was great with so many choices for sauce toppings.
I chose the sauce with tuna and ham and Parmesan cheese to top it. Garlic bread and soft buns on the sides heated over their oven, plus their specialty iced tea as drink.
My wife had the Putanesca sauce for her pasta plus the garlic breads. A great treat but both of us have to watch out for our weights. We really do not eat much during dinner time because our digestive system does not work much during sleep mode.
I finished the entire meal. Nothing left on my plate but remnants of the tuna sauce.
Breakfast was understandably more colorful with a lot of varieties. We all know that we should eat like a king during the most important meal of the day. We should fill our tummy with the most we can enough for the rest of the day. Lunch may be skipped if we dine on a heavy breakfast.
Four viands to choose from for your rice meal breakfast...
Cheese, corned beef and soft bun breads, several kinds of jams, cheeses, and hams, plus butter cubes. An oven at the corner to reheat.
Corn, leafy vegggies, and olives for our salads
Egg soup or congee with many spices to choose from.
Orange and mango juice, cereals with fresh milk...
For your omelette, you can choose which ingredient you want to fill it up. A cook will whip up an omelette for you.
Eggs for your omelettes...
Desserts and fruits (papaya, watermelon and pineapple bits)
First plate started with a rice meal wit longanisa, tocino, beef and tuna. Miss a rice meal last night so making it up on breakfast
I had congee with sliced boiled eggs, fried tofu and kikiam bits.
My omelette
Dessert of breads (soft bun, corned beef filled bun, and cheese-topped bun) and five kinds of jams mixed up together with the cube of butter. Delicious!!!
Hotel guests get FREE buffet breakfast, but walk-ins can also have unlimited breakfast servings for a very affordable price.
"One Pacific Place Serviced Residences' very own restaurant serves a smorgasbord of delicious meals, from ala carte to lunch buffets, from Filipino dishes to international food choices. The Strand Cafe and Restaurant is surely the newest hang-out in the Salcedo block!"
From the official OPP website: "The Strand Café keeps its menu diverse; there is always an abundance of new dishes to try. The Strand Café has a warm and cozy ambience and is nice for lunch meetings and social gatherings. It is open Mondays through Sundays, and you can also enjoy morning coffee with your family, friends, colleagues or your special someone. Regardless of going solo or in a group, this is the place to have a nice gastronomic experience."
I haven't tried out lunch which probably offers more interesting dishes as compared to what we got during the dinner buffet.
Breakfast was favorable but I missed the pancakes or waffles I usually dine on at most hotels that I stayed in. hey should offer that as well, especially for the kids who would loved to eat the breakfast icon.
The Strand Cafe is located at the ground level of OPP Serviced Residences, 161 H.V. Dela Costa, Salcedo Village, Makati City. For more info, call (632) 304.7777!
