Last November 20, 2013, Ayala Triangle, one of the leading commercial and business city offers all its Christmas activities as venue for the entire community to take part in the noble cause of reaching out to the Filipinos affected by typhoon Yolanda. It all begins with the premiere of the much-awaited Enchanting Lights and Sound show that will run every 30 minutes from 6pm to 9pm until January 5, 2014.

It is one of those captivating and highly-anticipated occasion when Makati resembles a dreamland where lights and music merge in enchanting perfection. All of Makati, denizens and visitors alike, indulge to the spell brought by this yearly tradition.

More importantly, the magic of this spectacular display of lights and sound has become even more special as the show reminds everyone that we could spark hope to those affected by the calamity in the Visayas region. Donation boxes have been positioned around the Ayala Triangle Gardens and Tower One & Exchange Plaza fountain area where people can drop cash donations of any amount.

With the support and presence of the Ayala family as they witness one of their projects to help us celebrate the season cultivating the spirit of sharing and helping especially those that are affected in the recent super typhoon Yolanda. Making it happen in Makati , and doing such charitable deed in a very timely opportunity such as this.

At exactly 6 in the evening, the Ayala Triangle Gardens dazzle with lights and resonate with hymns courtesy of this well-loved tradition that heralds the many joys, cheers, and rewards that come with Christmas in Makati.

The Enchanting Lights and Sound show features more than 800,000 colored LED bulbs connected by 45,000 meters of cabling and with almost 500,000 digital channels. One should surely watch out for its new light element known as the programmable meteor lights that will captivate you with its flexible movement prowess and infinite colors.

Imagine all of these harmoniously dancing to Christmas medleys especially composed in orchestral and native tunes. Four medleys are played alternately as light displays shimmer ceaselessly, the visual spectacle matching the aural extravaganza, underlining the very elements that evoke hope flickering at the threshold of a heavenly symphony. The Enchanting Lights and Sound show brings to the fore the very essence of what the celebration is all about: sharing our blessings with others and making a difference. These are the very ideals that Makati stand for.

This year’s Christmas celebration in Makati is just as special and unforgettable as the previous ones but with a marked distinction. The difference lies in the message of hope and sharing that is at the heart of this year’s festivities.

Christmas is a time for giving, sharing, and healing. With the recent earthquake and super typhoon Yolanda that hit the Visayas region in succession, rendering the loss of lives, properties, and infrastructures, the Christmas celebration in Makati, being the leading city for business, lifestyle, entertainment, and culture, acquires a deeper meaning through the simple act of sharing our blessings to our bereaved kababayans. The Ayala group of companies initiated the ‘Bulig Bisaya’ campaign as Ayala’s response in the aftermath of the typhoon through the restoration of vital services such as telecommunications and banking, provision of potable water, transferring of victims to safer grounds, and relief operations.

Makati also engages the online community in bringing a glimmer of hope to Yolanda’s victims through another way – by sharing Makati Christmas E-cards through the Make it Makati Facebook page. Each share is equivalent to a 2-peso donation for the victims of Yolanda. The Christmas spirit is truly all about spreading hope in time of great calamity and despair. Let us all be part of a Makati Christmas that is meant for sharing and make this season count.

The Christmas celebration in Makati brims with more good tidings and surprises in December at Ayala Triangle Gardens, starting with the 4th Annual Christmas Caroling Competition among Makati High Schools on December 2, followed by Christmas Around the World presented by SkyCable and TLC on December 6 where specialty booths will be placed for everyone to experience how the season is celebrated in other countries coupled with musical shows, a puto-bungbong indulgence and other activities. Giving a more contemplative mood to the celebration are Thanksgiving Masses as offered by Makati locators from December 15 to 23.

A Makati Christmas Meant for Sharing is brought to you by Make It Makati, Ayala Land, Ayala Land Premier’s Garden Towers, Alveo’s Lerato and Kroma, Avida Towers Asten, Amaia, Ayala Malls Glorietta and Greenbelt, MasterCard, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star, Manila Bulletin, Business Mirror, TLC, Canon Philippines, Pixma, and PowerMac Center.

  1. Oh how I love this season. Everyone's waiting for this season to come. Not just because it is the season of joy but also because it is a perfect time for sharing and giving. But hopefully we must always remember that we shouldn't stop sharing even it is not a Christmas season. Let us all make it a habit.
