Coffee Origins 2013 : The Country's Biggest Coffee Event

Wazzup Pilipinas!

A cup of coffee would always be the first thing I would look for every morning. It's the perfect drink to start the day right along side my favorite breakfast meals cooked by my adorable wife.

We take pride in drinking brewed coffee sourced from Filipino farmers coming direct from nearby provinces. If there is none available, that is the only time we resort to instant coffee.

Coffee drinking is indeed a common sight here in the Philippines. That is probably why there has been a proliferation of coffee shops in our country. Almost everyone appreciates coffee not only in the morning but at every hour of the day.

The Philippine Coffee Board Inc. (PCBI) and Ayala Malls have once again joined forces to bring us the country's biggest coffee event dubbed as Coffee Origins 2013. The event is set for October 10 to 22 at the second level of Greenbelt 5 Ayala Mall, Makati city.

It has been 11 years already of giving away thousands of cups of coffee to all mall goers that would be passing along the coffee exhibit. Passersby will get to taste different types of coffee from different sources around the Philippines.

This year's theme is "Discovering New Areas for Coffee" and truly, there will be coffee from Negros, Iloilo, ARMM and farms from the Cordillera and Mat. Matutum among many other sources.

The annual event is Ayala mall's way of supporting the development of the Philippine coffee industry by showcasing the brew in a most upscale venue, which befits the specialty coffee promotion.

A Coffee seminar on Coffee Basics (8:30 am - 12 noon) and How to Put Up a Coffee Shop (1:30 to 5 pm) will be held on October 19 at the Enderun Colleges to be conducted by Pacita "Chit Juan, President of the Board and a staunch coffee advocate.

Besides new learnings, the participants will get a certificate of attendance and an autographed book "The Barista Manual", written by Juan herself and Regina Francisco.

Should you want to attend Chit Juan's Coffee seminars, feel free to also call Enderun Extension at 856 5000 local 505 / 0917 881 12 17.

I am also looking forward to two pocket events at Commune Cafe in Salcedo Village, Makati to be scheduled on  Oct 16 and 17. Latte Art and Third Wave Coffee, respectively.

The 6th National Coffee Summit will be held on October 23 as a perfect culminating event for the event. Come to the 6th National Coffee Summit to be held at the Diosdado Macapagal hall of the Landbank Plaza. Meet other coffee farmers, processors and retailers from all over the country. Oct 23.
