Wazzup Pilipinas!
The
Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company started as a means to find
mineral deposits for abrasives. Now, 3M has become the leader in
abrasives, adhesives, and hardware products worldwide, and as a way of
thanking the people, especially the Filipinos, in patronizing its
products, 3M once again opened its doors to the public through its 3M
Innovation Tour at its Makati office along South Luzon Expressway.
Rika Kamibayashi first welcomed us and gave us a briefing on what to be expected in the tour.
Then
we set sail to a trip to the entire Customer Technical Center. First up
was the Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Room where we found out that
what we usually call "scotch tape" should be precisely called cellophane
tape. Here are some more of the industrial adhesive products of 3M.
Then
we went to the Dental Methods Room, also known as the 3M ESPE Room,
where we were welcomed by Dr. Rey Abrenica. He showed us the latest
dental
offering from 3M, from a mini-toothbrush that brushes the hard-to-reach
places to the Clinpro White Varnish.
Also
inside are training desks where the dentists in training can try using
the latest 3M dental products to any set of teeth, even if some teeth
look like that of a vampire!
Next
was the
Electrical and Communications Markets Methods Room where we saw the
latest 3M products that electricians use to help provide us electricity.
Then
we went to the Building and Commercial Services/Occupational Health and
Safety Methods Room, and there we were amazed about the use of Novec.
Novec is
so efficient that it can also be used as an alternate to a fire extinguisher...
...without even pouring its contents to the area where there's fire!
Then
we also went to the Electronics Methods, the Consumer and Office
Methods, and the Automotive and Aftermarket Methods Rooms and we also
learned
about 3M's latest products in the respective areas.
Overall, it was a learning experience. Now, I can appreciate and patronize 3M products more.
