Telecom Company Powers Deped DRRMO For Typhoon Labuyo Operations
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom powers the Department of Education’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) with communication tools for its Typhoon Labuyo operations.
Being a partner of DepEd DRRMO, Globe supplies the government agency with mobile and internet support for monitoring purposes. This time, the company provides prepaid cards which DepEd DRRMO can use with the cellular phones donated by Globe earlier.
“Globe is always here to assist DepEd especially during times when we are challenged by disasters. What better way to do it than provide means for DepEd DRRMO to check the status of affected schools via call, text, or even the internet,” said Fernando Esguerra, OIC of Globe Corporate Social Responsibility.
DepEd DRRMO continues to receive field reports on the extent of damages to public schools by Typhoon Labuyo which left severe destruction in the Northern, Central and Southern part of Luzon early this week.
Globe is DepEd DRRMO partner in the program Mainstreaming DRR in Public Schools in the Philippines. Globe also sponsored the first Regional Disaster Risk Resilience Workshop held for 16 Division Schools in the National Capital Region. For Typhoon Pablo, Globe gave communications support to the DepEd Region 11 DRRMO monitoring center in Davao City as well as mobilized its own partners like Huawei to donate funds for the mobile classrooms set up by the department.
