Stories : Hear. Listen. Understand. Share Your Stories and Win a Trip for Two to Zoocobia and Zoobic Safari!
Wazzup Pilipinas!
What started out as the thesis of a group of BS Business Management students under the social entrepreneurship track, TriboCo. Kultura Kamp continued their operations even after they graduated last March this year. These youth are now committed to operate as an independent social enterprise.
Through cultural camps they encourage three things among their participants and partners: to embark, embrace and to empower.
Embark - to immerse among the indigenous groups and experience their way of life.
Embrace - to foster a sense of kinship with our indigenous brothers and sisters to understand, accept, and develop deep respect for their culture and way of life.
Empower - to empower both the indigenous people and the participants.
All this is ultimately geared towards the fight against ethnocentrism - the tendency to believe that one's ethnic or cultural group is centrally important, and that all other groups are measured in relation to one's own.

I liked it best when there are several ways to tell stories either by music or a poetic declamation. Keep on doing the social responsibility advocacy and I'm positive that there will be a lot more who would follow our footsteps
ReplyDeleteThe performers really know their craft. I can still hear their voices ringing in my ear. How I wish we could all be like that - willing and able to lend our talents to share some good vibes.
ReplyDeleteThe most powerful medium an advocacy can use is to unite a group of people who wholeheartedly believe that there is good in what they do, that somehow, change can and will happen.
ReplyDeleteThat night, I saw a group of people just like that. Through their songs, their stories and their presence, I knew that they believed they could make it happen.
I knew that soon, this advocacy will matter, that TriboCo will matter.

The article of yours is informational. The data given can also convince anyone to go to that place you said, based on my own opinion. But when I scan the "competition" section, my curiosity became enough to cause interest. First of all, I want more information about that "contest" you have in there.
ReplyDeleteThank you ! :DD

DeleteThe Advocacy of TriboCo. Kultura Kamp is one of the greatest examples on how we can elevate our patriotism towards our country. Because their journey is not just an adventure but also a way of life. It helps not just the people behind the said advocacy but also the involve ethnic groups, the participants that will join the advocacy and our country. And this competition will help a lot in promoting the project. I hope this will encourage many people in exploring and respecting the different ethnic groups in our country. :)
ReplyDeleteBeing able to share an individual's personal stories and experiences is a very great idea. Sometimes one's small act toward others when shared can unknowingly a big thing for others. I strongly support this advocacy for their works so keep it up and I believe that someday someone will look back to this advocacy and thank it for its works
ReplyDeleteI commend you guys for your passion against ethnocentrism. We are all equal and no socio-cultural group is better than others. Cultural immersion will help anyone to fully understand the minority groups better thus, preventing discrimination.

ReplyDeleteI agree to support the fight against ethnocentrism because I believe that we are all equal despite of our flaws and we should not use our achievements in discriminating groups of people. I also believe that we should respect the opinions and experiences of not only every ethnic groups but also as an individual to maintain our peaceful relationship with them.
I do believe that our indigenous brothers should be treated with great importance, for they were the ones who started it all. Their civilization provided ours with a framework that we have developed and modernized to what we have now. Without them, we would have no systems in many aspects like government, culture, etc. I am very delighted to hear that people are promoting our ethnic groups. And with this competition, we can learn to embrace our heritage, embark with them and understand their culture, and empower them to our society as fellow citizens of the Philippines.

I'm not much of a storyteller and that's why I use music to express myself, to tell stories I can't tell people directly. But to be able to share stories and experiences through music and poetry sounds like an AWESOME experience. I salute the person or the group of people that organized this program, and I hope I would be able to attend programs similar to this one. Go TriboCo. Kultura Kamp!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I would like get the chance to share my story because I want to determine if all people practise ethnocentrism. If I were able to prove that people still have the chance to change their wrong perspectives in life, it would be my honor to continue what I started. But I also believe that people that has strong determination of practising ethnocentrism, they deserve respect and acceptance.

Sharing of your own story is great because everybody has something interesting to share. I hope I would be able to attend to this program because I would like to share my story. Go TriboCo. !
ReplyDeleteThe advocacy of TriboCo. Kultura Kamp is unique in a way that it fights racial discrimination with a different attack or strategy. Making people share their stories of in different way, for me, an effective way. Though it's indirect, but it will surely make people realize things and make them way more open to things that aren't traditional and be curious enough to make them explore and enjoy stuffs outside the box.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of TriboCo.Kultura Kamp in pursuing these article is knowledgeable because sharing your experience to other people makes you feel goof and you will know something that you don't even know before and makes your mind be knowledgeable and informative. For me, sharing experience, learnings, discoveries, likes or anything is like sharing your own life to someone you trusted or to other people ready to listen to your story.I want to share my own story because it is interesting and miraculous.

For people who enjoy talking, this is a great way share. In our time, we city folks usually set these things aside. We read about our ethnic groups from our dusty workbooks and the amazing internet, but we've never really experienced it.
ReplyDeleteExchanging stories,Living among them for a bit and understanding their ways are things we don't experience everyday. And though we may not be able to change everyone's view of these things, it's worth a try. Who knows? We might even know ourselves more.

Triboco.Kultura Camp aims to fight the idea of ethnocentrism which are truly visible in our present society. We tend to disfavor and treat the indigenous people as inferior without taking a closer look on their importance and bearing in the country's present state.
ReplyDeleteWe should not set them aside and help them to adapt to the dynamic advancement. Triboco.Kultura Camp made it's way to express their gratitude towards the indigenous people in a positive approach.
Moreover, I do believe that indigenous groups are important. Let us hear the 3 E's: embrace, embark and empower ourselves together with the indigenous groups all throughout.
This article, I believe, is exciting to read for every readers since many people desire prizes just like what is offered here. You may be able to capture the curiosity and interest of the readers from the beginning up to the end through how you conveyed what you are planning to say and how you are able to sustain the feelings of readers. ReplyDeleteThank you all for participating. Details will be sent to the winner. Thanks and have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteTriboco.Kultura Camp creates a way to know our "old" culture better. They followed Rizal's thinking that "A good day can be foretold by the morning" which means that the youth is the hope of the nation. These youth who created the organization helps the nation preserve it's culture which is now dying. They also help empower our indigenous people.

I find it ironic cause the advocacy of the students who started this project is not inclined to their specialization. However, i admire their efforts to pursue this project that will help our ethic groups in the philippines be known.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that there are still people who care for our indigenous brothers and sisters. I admire this group of graduates for their desire to uphold the culture of our ethnic groups. Students like me should be encouraged to join organizations like this to support and spread their advocacy.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that sharing is caring. And it's so nice to hear that there were some people who still pursue this kind of project despite of the modern generation. Their desire to fight for ethnocentrism shows that indigenous people should be honored and respected. And I admire them for having this advocacy.
ReplyDeleteits good to know that we have our own unique ways to express our selves I know that this advocay will encourage more people to join them because of their determination and the good intention to respect and preserve the culture and beliefs of our indigenous brothers and sisters
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the effort of the students to produce this kind of project for our ethnic groups i the Philippines. And also I wish that this will encourage many people to join the project and promote this project.
