Wazzup Pilipinas!
Do we have the same meaning of the word SUMMER? ‘Cause for me, summer means beach. It is the best time to go under the sun, hear splashes of water, plus of course hot sand from noon ‘til afternoon and then will get cold in the evening. If yes, then high five!
But before that, we went to Calapan, Mindoro to attend my cousin’s debut first. 2 hours bus ride plus 2 hours Roro ride. She had this airlines theme because she’s currently studying in UST right now having Management Tourism as her course. Everything was wonderful; the place, the food, and the vibes inside the venue.
Day after her debut, we rode a private car for 1 hour on the way to Puerto Galera. We stopped first on what they call as Tamaraw Falls and then after that… Puerto Galera!
Puerto Galera is the northwesternmost municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. It is located at the southwestern end of the Isla Verde Passage. It is considered as one of the most beautiful and developed beach resort community in the Philippines. It is a soothing vision of shimmering seas surrounded by lush mountains.
Believe it or not, the island's profitable tourist economy started from just "backyard tourism" wherein local residents accept local and foreign tourist as stay-in guest. In the course of time the island’s tourism has flourished. Several hotels, resorts, inns and restaurants have mushroomed within the area where most of them can be found near the shore. The residents owning properties near the beach are extremely lucky.
There are a thousand things one can do here. Landlubbers can pitch tents, light bonfires, play volleyball, toss a Frisbee, go beach-hopping, watch the sunset, gaze at the stars, hike, go rock climbing, carom off on a motorcycle, discover Oriental Mindoro’s other tourist spots or simply live it up.
But water is certainly the main attraction of the island. Crystal clear and shimmering especially during the hot summer months, the sea framing Puerto Galera is ideal for swimming, sailing, surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving. In fact one doesn’t have to go by boat to get to a dive site. Within a kilometer from the coast, schools of Moorish idols, trumpet fish, frog fish, lion fish and leaf fish weave in and out of thriving corals and sea anemones while species of starfish – from the speckled red-and-white to the neon-blue Pacific – rest on the sandy floor.
Everyone waited for the sun to somehow get down first before doing some activities outside. We played beach volleyball, picture here picture there, and of course the usual thing we used to do when we’re on the beach… riding-Jet-Ski-like-it-will-be-the-last. And I guess that’s the fun part of riding a Jet Ski. My cousin and I admit that thing. We won’t enjoy it if we won’t have ‘at least’ 35 on the engine. Plus, the fun part is when the sunset started, we were there watching it set. Such a beauty! Some of my relatives also rode Banana boat while we’re enjoying Jet Ski.
Well, this article won’t be enough for me to tell everything that happened during my summer 2013. One thing I know and I can conclude is that, wandering is really my thing; beach will be one of my best buddy ever, and of course having QT with my whole family will always be a likable and gratifying thing to do for me. We all have summer adventures ourselves, so many happenings happened as I entered my fourth year on high school. Well, now you know my summer getaway, so what's yours?
