My Semi-Aquatic Summer

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Whenever summer comes, people feel very happy. They feel motivated, enlightened, and even excited. Maybe this is the time they will relax and have fun, especially for students, like me. Aside from having an end of school year, they will be excited for whatever vacation they would plan. Others would go to their provinces and meet their relatives. Some would attend summer classes for advance lessons in order to be prepared for their next school year. It depends to their taste on how they would make their summer satisfying. But among this outdoor trips or activities, having a swimming vacation is the most popular. I’m to share to you my experiences last summer. It will not be like a vacation but it will be more of training.

Last summer, I always have a kind of a routine. From morning to afternoon, I play computer. When the clock strikes three, my Mom and my two siblings start packing their things and attend swimming training. At two days of training, I didn’t accompany them. I just played computer and watch television until they come home. At the third day, I tried to watch them.

I got interested and told my parents right away. On Saturday, that week, we bought some equipment like goggles, swimming trunk, and many more. I was nervous but also excited that time. When the second week came, I started my training with my siblings. We swam 20 laps of freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke. Well, at my first day, it didn’t really turned out so well. I got fatigued and had few aches but that didn’t stop me. I was determined to finish my session.

Every day, before we finish the session, we had our racing, or sometimes, relay. Of course, the girls are separated from the boys. I ranked fourth, sometimes third, but at least I exerted my efforts. It motivated me from quitting so I finished the entire training. We had it for a month starting from April 21 to May 21. So far, this training was awesome and very exciting, eventually, it made swimming my favorite sport.

As you can see, I discovered something new last summer. I realized that summer doesn't only mean resting and relaxing, but it also means having new adventures and discovering of our talents and interests. So next summer, don’t just watch televisions or play computer. This summer, go out and discover things. Who knows, you might find something you’re more capable than you think.
