Wazzup Pilipinas!
I practically begged to be part of the group of writers to be flown to the Surf Camp! Actually we flew from Manila to Tacloban, Leyte then travelled a few miles to cross the San Juanico Bridge to take us to the other side - Samar.
This was the location of the Calicoan Surf Camp. That nature-place near the seas where moderate to strong waves will allow you to surf into pure pleasure and a short burst of adrenaline once you are able to stand up across your board - able to hold the pose for a few minutes or fall back into the water with a great splash.
I should have been able to made it if I was not that fat and could carry my weight in balance.
I know I have told this story before, but there's more to be told so read up!
I must have been the very first to arrive at the Terminal 3 of NAIA. Not because I was excited about the trip (kunwari pa raw), but because I was trying to avoid the rush hour morning traffic.
A friend did say " Mas mabuti pang magtapon ng oras. kaysa maghabol ng oras". Indeed, it will be better to be early but comfortable and relaxed rather than stressed to the max worrying if I will still be able to catch my flight.
We arrived at the airport in Tacloban, Leyte after more than an hour of flight. The funny thing about the airport was that I mistaken it for a Niel Z. Romualdez when it should have been Daniel Z. Romualdez. Apparently, part of the signage already collapsed and the first two letters can no longer be noticed.
It also took us a few more minutes to travel towards our next location - our lunch venue.
Ayo Cafe provided our lunch for the day before we continued with our travel, or road trip to be specific, towards Samar. A moderate buffet was waiting for us complete with "kakanin" desserts.
Special mention to the pork dish which was soft and tender as if it would melt in your mouth literally. The rest of the food fare was good.
What I didn't like was the veggies - waahhh!!! taste very bad for me.
Aside from the "kutsinta", "pichi-pichi", and "malagkit", there was also "turon" filled with either bananas or sweet potatoes. I forgot to take a photo because it was served last.
oh, they have this lemonade, or was it ice tea, filled with slices of oranges and some leaves or herbs to taste. I sort of like it, but many still taste much better.
By the way, we also met this guy who's a local publisher/businessman who used to work for a TV station. His magazine with a title "8" was on its way to become famous soon. Especially when now they're getting famous celebrities as their mag cover starting with the cosplay sisters Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfao, teen heartthrob Daniel Padilla, host and comedian Lourd De Veyra, and soon talk show host Boy Abunda.
Hey, that's a lot of plugging already. Please send me my a copy of the latest issue, OK!?
I also would like to mention that Ayo Cafe has a fascinating collection of Coca-Cola merchandize located at a portion of the restaurant. You have to check it out.
To be continued.
