A Summer Well Spent: Swimming, Music, Friends, and Whatnot

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Last summer, I gained a valuable skill. But not just any kind of skill, instead, a life saving one.

After years of not knowing how to swim, I finally agreed with my parents' idea of me attending swimming lessons with my older sister. At first, to lessen my fear of drowning, I asked the other students about their experiences. Most of them told me that it wasn't that bad and that it was actually really fun.

The coaches taught me the basics, then after a few days, they made me jump off the diving board into the part of the pool which was 15-feet deep. I felt my heart beating faster and faster, but I decided to jump and test my luck. Haha! After jumping, I realized that it wasn't that scary and that it was all in my head.

  

I also spent my summer attending College Entrance Exam Review sessions at school. All of our teachers were professors from UP Manila, so we got an inside look on how college professors teach their students. But I still strongly believe that summer is the time to relax and let go, not study. And I also bonded with friends, and relatives. Nothing beats time spent with the people who make you happy.

 

 

Last May 2013, I also celebrated my 15th birthday with my family and we ate lunch outside. I told my mom not to tell the restaurant that it was my birthday, but when it was time for us to eat dessert, a group of waitresses started singing and brought out a glass of ice cream with a candle and a balloon. It's been a while since I experienced that, so it actually made my day.

One of my passions is dancing........ Haha! Just kidding, I have two left feet. One of my passions is singing, because through singing I can say the things I never had the courage to say. So during the summer, I uploaded videos on YouTube of me singing while playing the guitar. I've been part of the YouTube community for almost 2 years now.

Just like any other summer vacation, I spent most of my remaining time at home, doing chores, sleeping, eating, watching, and playing video games. But my summer wasn't wasted one bit because I became friends with a lot of great people, I was on a roller coaster of emotions, I learned new things, and most importantly I was with the people I love. And now that school has started, I'm looking forward to what next summer is going to be like. So, 'til next time then!
