Swensen's Ice Cream and Sundaes are Now Deliciously Strawberrified

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Imagine the delightful goodness of ice cream with real strawberries, and then the yummy chocolatey sponginess of  your favorite lava cake. Now try to imagine how it will taste like if you combine the two into one sensational sweet treat.....

No words are enough to describe the heavenly pleasure...It is simply an indulgement!

Now stop imagining, yield to the desire, and head on over to any Swensen's Ice Cream and Sundaes branch (Eastwood or MOA) and taste the real thing!

Our visit to the Swensen's Mall of Asia (MOA) branch was the highlight of our dining experience that day. After a great lunch at one of the restaurants nearby, we decided to try the new Strawberry in Love Sundaes....and we believe it totally "strawberrified" our world!

We were delighted that the sundae actually contained real strawberries! Yes! It was an amazing sweet treat for us as we tried their Strawberry Choco Lava and Strawberry Crepe.

Similarly to the Eastwood branch, they have the big Swensen's signage fronting the restaurant.

We've visited their Eastwood branch already and now we're here at their MOA branch. The MOA branch is a lot bigger and spacious. It's very ideal for bringing in the "barkada" to enjoy an ice cream celebration! Maybe we could have a party here someday - Sweet Sensational Sundaes on a Sunday! (sounds great huh!?)

They also have their iconic Swensen's decors that we likewise saw at their Eastwood branch. The counter lights with something like "capiz" enclosures were too great looking to miss. They surely made efforts to make their branding known.

Pictures of ice cream and sundaes portrayed in almost life-like imagery were displayed on their walls. It was equally a stunning creation as if the images of the sweet delicacies are popping out from the frames in 3D-like effect.

Swensen’s was established in 1948 in San Francisco, California. Since then, the brand has grown and expanded outside the United States’ territories.

Quoting from a statement coming from its owner and General Manager, Ms. Lizzie Guerrero : "Swensen’s has been a popular watering hole in Thailand and Singapore. Knowing that most Filipinos are born with sweet tooth, as well as a discriminating taste in ice cream that is also value for money, we felt Swensen’s will be a craze in Manila."

Swensen’s Philippines opened its first branch in the Philippines at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City in 2011 and a second shop a year after at Eastwood Mall in Pasig City.

Ace Azarraga, marketing manager of Swensen’s Philippines also said that “In Thailand, there are more Swensen’s stores than McDonalds.”

My wife was overwhelmed once again with the many choices available in the Swensen's menu, but we really had to resist the temptation of ordering the bigger servings like the "Earthquake".

We were there to try out something new, and so we gave in to the new "Strawberrylicious" sundaes.

Though they're a bit pricey because its ice cream products are considered “premium-priced, (that is because Swensen’s targets the mid- to upper income segments of the consumers), but who really cares about paying more when you get quality food that will surely be a memorable dessert experience for you and your family.

My wife chose the Strawberry Choco Lava. She's very fond of cakes and ice creams so a combination of the two was very "dreamy" for her. The addition of real strawberries made it more heavenly addicting.

I opted for the Strawberry Crepe. I'm such a lover of anything with bananas so this one truly rocked my world and made me going bananas!

Call me a monkey's uncle but the combination of strawberries and bananas was something to die for. It was surprisingly new to our taste buds.

If I were you, I would stop reading this blog right now and head on over to any of the Swensen's branch!

Mark my word that you will fall in love with Swensen's new Strawberry sundae offerings!

We will be bringing our kids on our next visit so they would also get to enjoy the creamy delights only found here at Swensen's Ice Cream and Sundaes!

  5. "I scream for Ice Cream"

My sweet tooth is tingling. This article sure did made me crave for ice cream. It is indeed true that the Filipinos are known for their sweet tooth, which seemingly chooses no age at all. As what they say "Bata, Matanda, May ngipin man o wala". Regardless of age, anyone will be overjoyed when treated with sweets, well with the exception of diabetics of course, which is another story.

Although I'm not the kind of person that indulges with branded and pricey sweets especially in Ice Cream. So far,Dairy Queen is the only place where I'm willing to spend quite some cash for a single ice cream. I still go for the usual Selecta/Nestle/Arce Dairy Ice cream sold in the stores which are way cheaper. But nothing beats the good ol' Lolo's(or insert another name here)'s special Dirty (or I prefer it calling street) Ice Cream for only ten pesos with a wide variet of medium ranging from Sugar Cones to Buns.

The bottom line I guess is, no matter what brand no matter how pricey it is, Ice Cream will always be Ice Cream for us Filipinos.
