In the past two years, Globe Tattoo has given recognition to individuals from different fields that have made a great impact and even propelled change via a number of online platforms. This year’s Tattoo Awards is no different, except that it’s bigger and perhaps more youth-oriented.
Major categories include: Blogger Phenom of the Year, Trending Twitter Phenom of the Year, YouTube Phenom of the Year, and Instagram Phenom of the Year. Winners from any of these categories shall receive a cash prize of P100,000. Special awards, wherein winners take home P50,000, include: Best Social Media Movement, Best Comedy on YouTube, Best Music on YouTube, Best Style Blog, Best Sports Blog or Microblog, Best Tech Blog or Podcast, Best Photoblog or Microblog, and Best Travel or Food Blog. A new feature also allows you to create your own category. Anyone active on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Google can participate by logging on to www.TattAwards.com to fill out the nomination form.
A group of individuals celebrated in their respective fields, and themselves winners in the past years, comprises this year’s Tatt Council and will spearhead the screening of nominations and shortlisting of finalists: Globe's Dong Ronquillo, Rappler Chief Executive Officer Maria Ressa, Yugatech.com’s Abe Olandres, Our Awesome Planet’s Anton Diaz, Original Pilipino Music advocate Jim Paredes, international model and host Joey Mead-King, photographer BJ Pascual, YouTube sensation Mikey Bustos, TV personality Bianca Gonzalez, video producer for Mashable Bianca Consunji, and sports analyst TJ Manotoc.
Nominations have begun and will end on May 13, 2013. The top five per category will be announced on June 13, 2013 while public voting will kick off on June 23.
