Wazzup Pilipinas!
Congratulations to the five newest queens of the Binibining Pilipinas 2013 beauty pageant. You might have kept the world waiting for this day, but you five were definitely worth every second of the long yet thrilling wait.
The Binibining Pilipinas 2013 winners and recipients of special awards
were finally named during the coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Sunday, April 14, 2013.
This event was very special for the Binibining Pilipinas pageant as it celebrates 50 years of beauty this year. The pageant has been able to produce 2 Miss Universe winners
(Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973) and 3 Miss International
Winners (Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, and Precious
Lara Quigaman in 2005) since its humble yet elegant beginnings way back in 1964.
Ariella Arida is the new MISS PHILIPPINES-UNIVERSE 2013.
The 24-year-old Chemistry graduate from UP
Los BaƱos who hails from Laguna bested 49 other contestants. She also won the Best in Swimsuit.
Ariella impressed judges during the Q & A portion with her answer when PNP Director General Gen. Allan Purisima asked her what lesson about life could a woman teach a man she answered:
"One lesson in life that women can teach men is being sensitive. Men are more logical when it comes to decisions. They're rational and straightforward. Unlike women, we use our hearts and we tend to get emotional when we make our decisions. Sensitivity is something that we women can teach to men."

It was her simple but solid answer that gave her the edge above the favored ones.
Bea Rose Santiago from Masbate was named Bb. Pilipinas-International, while Joanna Cindy Miranda of Nueva Ecijia was crowned Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism and Mutya Johanna Datul of Isabela was crowned Bb Pilipinas Supranational (also Best in Evening Gown). Cagayan de Oro’s Pia Wurtzbach was named first runner up.
Kapamilya artists Xian Lim, Sam Milby, Sam Concepcion, and Matteo
Guidicelli serenaded the candidates during the evening gown competition
with the Smokey Mountain hit “Kailan,” Ric Segreto’s “Don’t Know What To
Do,” Ariel Rivera’s “Ikaw ang Tunay na Ligaya,” and Basil Valdez’
“You.”
The event was hosted by Martin Nievera and Dawn Zulueta with commentary from Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup.
What was more interesting to watch and carefully listen to was the Question and Answer portion where such questions as "Is the best things in life really free?" from TV Talk Show host Boy Abunda, and "Do you think you can be a good Catholic if you support the RH Bill?" by former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz which was also considered as the hardest question of the night. Sagot ko dyan: your Morality should not test your Faith. Sabeeeeeh?! Try lang.
"What is that one habit you would break?" Is it me or was that answer about junk food just for jokes? My Answer: "Thank you for that mind blowing question. Because of that I consider my self as third runner up. Charot!" I hoped a judge asked, "Who's better? Kobe Bryant or LeBron James?" So we could have settled this once and for all....and who could forget the word "eradicate" ......and yes! "world peace" is not yet dead.
The Binibining Pilipinas Gold is memorable because of Ms.Junkfood, Ms.Obama, Ms.Eradicate, & Ms.RH Bill.

The event was totally jawdropping with fabulous evening gowns, sexy bodies in swim wear, and magnificent production numbers, plus stellar performances of our artists and smart and witty hosting of popular celebrities and beauty queens. Just like how Venus Raj described the Tagalog equivalent of jawdropping, it was simply "Nga-nga!"
More pictures and stories soon.....tulog muna ako!
Wonder who is that reporter whom looked down at Pia by asking her the question " how does it feels to be a spare tire?"
