Zoobic Safari : Feeding the Lions in Subic Plus a Lot of Other Attractions

Wazzup Pilipinas !

We went to Subic to attend a press conference of an event being called as Subic Pascha, which was more like a Food Bazaar that will happen on a later date. However, since the presscon ended earlier, our organizer decided to treat us with a tour of Subic. One of the destinations was at Zoobic Safari, where we had a great time feeding the lions....or watching the caretaker risk his fingers while trying to feed chicken to the hungry beasts.

We were grateful that she allowed us to explore more of Subic. We even had a tour guide named Philip who was showing us the way and sharing the background, history and controversies behind the establishments. He even inject a few humor to lighten up the trip and bring out some laughter from us while under a scorching hot afternoon sun.

Feeding the Lions at Zoobic Safari in Subic brought to you by Wazzup Pilipinas ! Thanks to a blogger friend for suggesting we incorporate videos in our blogs. It truly is more fun sa Pilipinas with videos.

Zoobic Safari is one tourist attraction you will find at Subic Bay Freeport’s Forest Adventure. Embracing a twenty five-hectare land, local and foreign guests can expect an astonishing sight of diverse exotic animals roaming and frolicking in their simulated natural habitat. It features a wide range of habitats present in the forest due to the terrain, presence of streams, and fringing grasslands. These represent the major habitats for varied exotic animals featured in Zoobic Safari Adventure Park.

My companions inside the caged vehicle. The vehicle is caged to protect us from being attacked by the lions. No matter how trained or tamed or domesticated the lions are,  we should be forever reminded that they still have the wild instincts which may suddenly put harm to us if we are not careful. Better to be extra safe than sorry.

The whistle is used to call the lions during feeding time, and when they are required to put on a show for the guests.

This one is used to train the lions. If the lions point their noses on it, the trainer gives them a food prize. The trainer said lions are not like dogs that are easily trained, and even though they've been around them for several months already, they still fear for their lives.

Aside form the lion feeding, Zoobic Safari has the following attractions to look forward to, namely:
  • Zoobic Park  is a two-hectare forest wherein guests will have a mini-trekking experience to see exotic, wild and semi-domesticated animals in their simulated natural habitat. Have the wonderful chance to pet and feed these wonderful animals - parakeets, bearcats, camels to name a few.
  • Savannah a sanctuary of the wild that features a wide range of ostriches, potbellies, wild boars, and guinea fowls.
  • Serpentarium Get inside an old ammunition bunker where you will see a showcase of various species of reptiles like snakes, lizards and  turtles.
  • Rodent World  Features an amazing collection of rodents. Be amazed in Mice Surprise area and you may even see some guinea pigs being groomed in the Rodent Salon.
  • Animal MuZOOeum A rare collection of real stuffed animals, bone collections and preserved animal skin.
  • Close Encounter A facility that allows one to take a close look at our Siberian-Bengal tigers only 2 feet away!
  • Tiger Safari a Hold on to your seats as you enter a two-hectare enclosed area aboard our customized Safari Jeep and experience the thrill of being chased by full-grown tigers on the loose!
  • Bird Walk Experience feeding the parakeets/love birds on the palm of your hand. Lovely!
  • Aetas' Trail Have a glimpse of the beauty of our Native Aeta Brothers' culture as they perform some of their traditional dances.

The Zoovenir Shop had a lot of stuff that you can choose from as souvenir. From shirts to stuff toys, the items are very colorful and reasonably priced.

There were several colorfully designed (two designs : orange and yellow with black stripes like a tiger, and white with black stripes like a zebra) train-like vehicles or locomotives that carried us around a tour of the Zoobic Safari grounds.
