Red River Valley Waterfalls : Nature Is Best When Its Untouched

"Negros Oriental is a hodgepodge of natural lakes and waterfalls, sure to calm the senses and the frazzled nerves. These attention worthy bodies of water are all subtly tucked away within the island of Negros."

We had to take a short hike to go to our next destination, the Red River Valley Waterfalls. In order to get there, we had to leave our van somewhere along the road where a caretaker is assigned to take care of all the vehicles, then cross a bridge made of "kawayan" or bamboo, then a few more steps uphill.

Funny is, there were people on motorbikes going pass us on the same road and across the bamboo bridge as well. I was surprised the bridge can take that much weight and stress from the motorbikes.

The road is now concrete but we needed to walk a few more steps until we saw a signage indicating we were near the Red River Valley waterfalls.

As per other write-ups about the place, the Red River Valley in Malabo Valencia, Negros Oriental, provides a great swimming and diving hole for all ages. Locals and guests climb up on some rocks and take a dive into the water basin. Some even go up to the very top of the waterfalls for a thrilling experience (but this I wouldn't recommend as I think the water below at the base of the waterfall is not that deep, and you might miscalculate and fall into the rocks instead).

We saw just a few kids playing in the man-made pool.

There was not just one but a few more waterfalls at other areas of the Red River Valley. There was a few more further up at the higher levels. I chanced upon a couple of foreign tourist taking a dip there.

Going near the Red River Valley Waterfalls was exhilarating. I swear I enjoyed the cool breeze touching my face as I approach nearer the base of the waterfalls. The path towards the big waterfall was a bit "rocky" and you have to be able to maneuver your steps so you won't slip or do a misstep. It was still underdeveloped and basically "untouched" by machine, which I believe makes it more naturally majestic.

The path going back was the same way we came in. Yes we had to cross the bamboo bridge again. ...and now off to another adventure!
