A very quaint and modest pasta restaurant in Los Banos, Laguna was our dinner venue one night after a tedious event that day.
The restaurant is housed at the ground floor of a three-story house, which according to the staff, was just previously a garden and garage the owners converted into a pasta dining experience that Los Banos is now proud of to be one of the must visits when you're in town.
Joe's Italian Restaurant is a pasta experience that can tingle your choosy taste buds for a worthy and satisfactory meal adventure. The choices for pasta are quite a selection, and the serving size is value enough for your money.
The restaurant is located in a somewhat hidden place in front of the Los Baños National High School. They call it a dating restaurant in Los Banos that serves pure Italian cuisine at quite a price not for the tight budget students. So if someone needs to impress her date, he takes her to this restaurant. The place is small yet very Italian and serene; just right for a date. There are also plenty of choices in their menu, aside from the several kinds of pasta dishes.
GMA News Online recommended the restaurant as among the top ten must-try restaurant in Los Banos, Laguna : "Here’s one restaurant where people usually spend their birthdays. Those who have been there know the reason: Joe’s has an ambiance that radiates a certain kind of intimacy.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s not an exquisite building of majestic proportions. However, if you’re looking for a few good laughs and a delectable lamb chop, then a visit to Joe’s might be worth your while"
A fellow blogger recommended the place back when it had polka-doted table tops : "I really loved Joe's hole-in-the-wall feel, which perversely lends it some authenticity. Red, polka-dotted tabletops. Cheap, plastic and easy-to-clean table mats. Not exactly bella Italia, but still. I am sharply reminded of days when Amici was still run by the Don Bosco priests and the place looked like a regular, non-assuming cafeteria, belying the fact that it served great gelato and pasta."
The food: They boasts that they serve ONLY FRESHLY COOKED MEALS. They really say that they DON'T REHEAT and they DON'
They also use tomato sauce that is made form fresh tomatoes and herbs with no artificial colors, and they bake their own bread, cakes and pastries in their own Panetteria.
"They don't serve pizza - which might be a sin for any Italian inspired eatery" but who cares? The pasta dishes coupled with the great appetizers and drinks are fulfilling already for a hearty meal.
Amazing review!
