The ADX Campus Tech Road Show 2012

College students of today have it way too easy! They have access to a plethora of cool gadgets and computer rigs to help them with their studies and, as a huge bonus, to provide endless entertainment during breaks and dead hours. Undoubtedly number one on their list are those that allows them to go “online” to connect and communicate with people,  listen to music, watch videos, read e-books, browse blogs, play games and of course to “tweet” and “post” away relentlessly. Nowadays, libraries, video rentals, music shops, and video gaming centers are becoming obsolete because all of these can now be virtually accessible from any computer with an Internet connection. The Internet now is where most minds meet, play and do business.

Now, students have more reasons to celebrate because there’s a group of IT enthusiasts that’s bringing technology a lot more closer to them. By partnering with several hardware distributors, a series of campus tours dubbed as the ADX Campus Tech Road Show is now on its way to different colleges and universities. This is the first university wide, interactive event that brings in world-class talents and leading brands in the world of Information Technology. Organized by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, the ultimate goal is to share, empower and offer support to IT communities by maximizing these computing tools to their advantage.

The ADX Campus Tech Road Show had its first run at the National University (NU) last September 17 to 19. Day 1 at NU was a showcase of the latest computer technologies currently available to end-users. The students were given a chance to look, touch and test for themselves the capabilities of high-end components and custom-built computer rigs using technologies such as Intel’s 3rd gen architecture processors, AMD’s HD7000 series video cards, SanDisk’s extremely fast SSDs, LG’s IPS4 monitors, and a lot more awesome stuff too many to mention!

Day 2 and 3 of the ADX Campus Tech Road Show also made way for some technical seminars and workshops. Bomberjun, proud member of the Rig Builders Alliance (RBA) which form part of the group responsible in bringing you the ADX Campus Tech Road Show, says “It was all about lecturing them (the students) in choosing the right parts for their future computer on a tight budget. We also thought them how to do basic modifications in their old PC. Overclocking was pure pawnage since we had the right parts from our sponsors! Students were also amazed how fast these beastly parts are. During that day, we also had our PC clinic were we repaired laptops for free!!! HOW COOL WAS THAT?”

Next on the ADX Campus Tech Road Show list was the University of the East (UE) in Caloocan which was held last September 24 and 25. Sponsors also had setup similar product display booths at the school. Seminars and workshops were also held on the second day.

Third on the list was the Lyceum of the Philippines. The same high-end rigs, demo units and workshops were presented to the students last September 26 to 28. Thanks to the organizers of the ADX Campus Tech Road Show, the students are treated with first-hand experiences of trying out for the first time selected computer rigs to give them an educational incentive to help them choose the best and appropriate rig for their needs.

Tokens and gifts were also given away to students of all schools visited by the ADX Campus Tech Road Show. Students who participated in the question and answer or contests conducted by the organizers were given nice items like shirts and computer accessories.

Technology is truly at its peak and most gadgets and computer rigs are stunningly cheap (to the tune of China for gadgets and clone for computer rigs)! Free music, videos, e-books, pictures, programs and a whole lot of information can be conveniently searched “by the power of Google!” and there are sites where you can pay to download (No to torrents please). The best news is that the parents of today mostly agree that these wonders of technology are already a necessity and no longer a luxury! Sometimes we’re also very lucky to get away with buying the high-end rigs and gadgets rather than just the bang-for-the-buck.

As of this writing, the ADX Campus Tech Road Show is already half-way in its first leg of campus tour, but the organizers are already planning to have their 2nd leg around the first quarter of next year, so contact them for inquiries on how to include your school among the lucky recipients of this rare opportunity.

Next on the tour are:

De La Salle University – Oct 4 to 5 (rescheduled on later part of October)
Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Oct 10 to 11
University of Sto. Tomas – Nov 7 to 9

The Campus Tech Road Show is also partly sponsored by TipidPC, one of the top IT online communities of today.
